About the role

Power Capital Renewable Energy (PCRE) is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) established in Ireland in 2011 (www.powercapital.ie). The company has developed a portfolio of over 1200MW in Ireland. Currently the company is constructing 230MW of Solar PV in Ireland. Following on recent success in the RESS 2 auction we will commence construction on a further 300 MW in 2023/2024. We continue to focus on our domestic growth strategy whilst expanding our international presence in both Europe and the US.

Responsibilities:​

  • Review of company transaction documents.
  • Provide assistance or guidance on corporate and commercial law queries
  • Liaise with external counsel or clients
  • If required, assist with compliance matters including maintenance of anti-money laundering files, insurance, FATCA/CRS, GDPR and other group compliance reporting.
  • Advising on contract interpretation and working with the business to position for and negotiate favourable outcomes;
  • Understanding the company’s business and contractual commitments to negotiate contracts most effectively
  • Drafting and reviewing a wide range of commercial contracts and other documents ranging from suppliers of key business infrastructure to subcontractors engaged to achieve the project development;
  • Advising on regulatory matters;
  • Supporting procurement processes within the company;
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the legal department within the business;
  • Providing compliance support to ensure appropriate legal documentation is in place;
  • Proactively providing research for and training to all areas of the business as required on appropriate issues;
  • Any other ad hoc duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements:​

Experience & skills

 

Required

  • Solicitor NQ – 3 PQE with relevant legal experience gained in the areas of corporate, capital markets and/or commercial others will be considered if having necessary skills or experience.
  • Balance of technical competence and practical experience in contract negotiation.
  • Business-oriented approach to problem-solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Analytical.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Collaborative and proactive nature as part of the internal team and with clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload, manage simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines within a changing fast-paced
  • Commercially minded, procurement, legal and contracts
  • Willing to be a team player who can take on all aspects of the contracting process including drafting, negotiation and execution.
  • Ideally with a background in Renewable Energy, Construction and/or Corporate/Commercial.
