About the role

Power Capital Renewable Energy (PCRE) is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) specialising in solar PV. PCRE (www.powercapital.ie) was established in Ireland in 2011. Omnes Capital a French Private Equity Fund,  has recently become a major shareholder in PCRE. The Company will focus on developing and growing its solar PV pipeline which currently stands at circa 1.2GW in Ireland.  PCRE is set to become the dominant player in the emerging Irish solar market and is actively pursuing opportunities in the overseas solar sector.

Responsibilities:​

The Project Manager is responsible for providing project management, programme and engineering support on the pre-construction and construction phases of solar farms projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget. Key stakeholder relationships include the ESB / Eirgrid, EPC and EBOP contractors, sub-contractors, local authorities, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Pre-Construction

    Support critical path programme activities for PV projects ranging from €5 to 10M

  • Ensure compliance with grid connection procedures and Eirgrid / ESB interaction
  • Manage tender procedures for specification through to EPC/EBOP contracts awards
  • Construction

    Manage procurement, supplier milestones to ensure delivery on multiple projects

  • Manage contractor performance and reviews, client health and safety duties, etc.
  • Meet planning conditions, interface with utilities, input to EPC/EBOP contractors
  • Post-Construction

    Liaise with contractors to meet defects liability period, performance duties.

  • Develop asset management specification, SLAs for operation and maintenance contractors

Requirements:​

Experience & skills
Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • A highly motivated fast learner, with a commitment to systematically expanding your knowledge and portfolio of technical skills.
  • 3-5 years’+ relevant experience of, and proven track record in engineering, project management and implementation within a multi-disciplined, fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in working on energy utility projects where grid connection is a prerequisite
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate creative solutions and choose appropriate alternatives, as necessary. Take ownership and responsibility for tasks.
  • Ability to anticipate and track operational and tactical risks, clarify, identify, and track requirements and issues, and escalate where required. Pro-active problem solver.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well in small multidisciplinary team and a strong delivery focus. Technically minded and skilled supporting design process
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Knowledge of client health and safety regulations (HSE)


Desirable

 

  • Chartered Qualification or project management training/qualification.
  • Experience in design engineering, connecting utility projects to grid
  • Irish and EU renewables market in solar PV or wind.
  • Experience working with PVSyst, PVGis software.
  • Knowledge or experience of construction regulations.
  • Commercially minded, procurement, legal and contracts
