ESG is a socially responsible approach to investing — and unlike some companies, we don’t see it as a box-ticking exercise. Since we started in 2011, we’ve had an ambition to provide green energy, but in a better way.
From the moment we start planning a solar farm we seek ways to enhance biodiversity, by planting native trees and retaining hedgerows and wildflower meadows.
We continually review and audit our supply chain, so we only procure from companies with the highest standards in ESG practices and policies.

As a pioneering renewable energy provider and a socially responsible investor, our long-term success is linked to our commitment to ESG. We engage with an external company to track, monitor and assist with our ESG contribution, and we invest by example.

What is ESG
for investors?
For investors, environmental, social and governance considerations are a growing priority — and with good reason. ESG performance has been shown to correlate strongly with financial performance; companies in the S&P 500 that ranked in the top quintile for ESG factors outperformed those in the bottom quintile by more than 25 percentage points between the start of 2014 and the end of June 2018.

As the world moves to renewable energy, developers and providers need to bring communities with them. We understand the concerns of locals living near a solar farm, and take great care in the initial site selection. We engage with schools, sports clubs and community programmes and provide supports where we can. We are always open to new ideas and positive community engagement.
